Uhuru Quarry (Ghana) Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Uhuru Group Limited. This company was established to identify and develop quarry assets specifically focused on Granite and Limestone.
In 2011, the company acquired two quarry properties in Atwereboanda in the Shama District of the Western Region totalling 20 Acres.
A detailed geological and geotechnical analyses and tests have been performed on one of the sites measuring 9.6 Acrea. The results of these tests have proven 2,000,000m3 in-situ of A-grade Granite Rock Mass on the property.
The company has obtained the relevant Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certificate that enables it to develop and mine the site to produce aggregates for supply to building and road contractors for civil works.
In 2013, Uhuru Quarry Ghana Limited concluded an agreement with a strategic partner to explore and develop a number of prospective Limestone deposits. A special purpose vehicle, Grey Jewel Company Limited, was created for this limestone exploration and development project. Uhuru Quarry Ghana Limited owns an effective 61.25% interest in the first concession within Grey Jewel Company Limited., this concession being a 30 Acre Limestone Concession in Domeabra in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region of Ghana (Domeabra 1 Property). Uhuru Quarry Ghana Limited, has a further first right of refusal for 50% in an additional 180 acres of concessions in the same area.
The Domeabra 1 concession is currently under exploration and promises to hold significant deposits of this semi precious stone which is a vital ingredient in the manufacture of clinker and or cement.
